• The Rainbo Bread Company purchased the Mead’s Bread Company. Tucumcari Mayor Earl Grau presented local distributor Bill Hagler of Tucumcari with a proclamation declaring April 10-16 as Rainbo Bread Week.

• The House FFA team placed third in the tractor driving team and farm mechanics events at the State FFA Contest in Las Cruces.

• Work was completed on the new field house in San Jon. The field house featured a stage and basketball goals, red oak floors, locker room, kitchen and lunchroom facilities. The completed project cost $173,000.

• Retired Quay County teachers Sarah K. Ellis and Nora Woodall were honored by the Kiwanis Club for 41 years of teaching.
