New Mexico State Police arrested two Indiana men Friday afternoon after finding methamphetamines and more than $30,000 in cash in their vehicle.
Officer Rigo Chavarria stopped the pair of 40 year olds a couple of miles west of Tucumcari around 4 p.m. Friday.
He said the two men’s stories were inconsistent, so he received written consent to search the car.
Officers found a green bank bag in the back seat with $31,820 and brought the car back to the police station.
They then found 6 1/2 grams of meth and less than an ounce of marijuana.
James Willis and Michael Powers were charged with possession of methamphetamines, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia for a smoking pipe with burnt marijuana in it and smoking paper.
