Frances Sandoval

Frances Sandoval, 75, died at her home in Tucumcari Dec. 6, 2003.
She was born Jan. 29, 1928 in Tucumcari.
She was a member of the St. Anne’s Catholic Church and member of the Mt. Carmel Society, the Rosary Society and the Christian Mothers. She served in the past as president of DOES Drove 210 of the Tucumcari Elks Lodge and past president and charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus.
She is preceded in death by her sister Mary Madrid.
Survivors include her husband Steve of Tucumcari; daughter Mary Ann Aragon of Tucumcari; four sons, Andy and Chris both of Tucumcari, Simon Sandoval of New York and Vincente Sandoval of Lubbock; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A rosary was Tuesday evening at St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
A Mass of the Resurrection was this morning at St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
The Rev. Leo Padget officiated.
Pallbearers were Andy, Chris, Simon and Vicente Sandoval, Michael Baca and Anthony Gonzales.
Burial followed at the family plot of Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.

Helen Unruh

Helen Ruth Unruh, 90, died Dec. 8, 2003, in the Laurel Hills Care Center in Tucumcari.
She was born May 13, 1913.
She had been a resident of Tucumcari since 1996. Before then she and her husband made their home in Roy. Mrs. Unruh was a member of the Roy Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband Herman Unruh who died in September of 1996.
Survivors include daughter, Janet Helwig of Clovis; three sons, Carl and Robert Unruh both of Tucumcari and James Unruh and wife Nina of Houston; along with numerous grand children and great grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Roy.
Burial will follow at the family plot of the Roy Cemetery.

Myrtle Rice

Myrtle A. Rice, 93, died Nov. 26, 2003 in Tucumcari.
She was born Dec. 17, 1909 in Peru, Indiana. She was a home maker and member of the Center Street United Methodist Church, Bethel Chapter 15, Order of the Eastern Star and of the United Methodist Women and of the Queen Astex Auxiliary Lady Firemen.
She is preceded in death by her husband Alva J. Rice in 1989 and by a daughter Donna Ann Rice in 1952.
Survivors include daughter Belinda Trujillo and husband Edward of Tucumcari; great grandson William Joseph Luera and wife Sabine and great great granddaughter Kristian; sister-in-law Pearl Rice.
Services were Monday at Dunn Memorial Chapel.
The Rev. Scott Seymour officiated.
Burial followed in the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pat Guiterrez

Pat Guiterrez, 69, died Dec. 1, 2003 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque.
He was born Nov. 24, 1934 in Tucumcari.
Mr. Guiterrez was a plumber and member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his brother Gilbert Guiterrez and his sister Lucy Barreras.
Survivors include wife Frances of Tucumcari; three sons, Pat Guiterrez Jr and wife Della of Santa Fe, James Guiterrez and wife Roseann of Rio Chama and Ambrose Gutierrez of Los Lunas; two daughters, Victoria Dima of Albuquerque and Renee Guiterrez of Tucumcari; 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Services are scheduled 7 p.m. tonight at St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
Mass of the resurrection will be offered 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
The Rev. Leo Padget will officiate.
Burial will follow in the family plot of Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ethel Flint

Ethel Pauline “Polly” Flint, 68, died Nov. 29, 2003 at her home in San Jon.
She was born Feb. 10, 1935 at Lordsburg.
Mrs. Flint was a member of the Rebekah Lodge at San Jon, member of the DOES Drove with the Tucumcari Elks Lodge, and member of the Ladies Auxillary of the American Legion Post 77 of Logan. For many years she was with Family Services which assisted military families where there were casualities and assisted the military families that were moving to the different military bases while her husband Richard Flint served in the military. Family members said she was an avid supporter of San Jon Schools and helped at the San Jon senior center.
Survivors include her husband Richard; son Curtis of Port Orchard, Wash.; two daughters, Belinda and Betty Jo both of San Jon; sister Kathy of Abeline, Texas and one brother Dewayne Smith of Tonasket, Wash.
Services were this morning at the San Jon United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Amy Jordan and Rev. Gerald White officiated.
Burial followed at the family plot of Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.
