Community church service set for Sunday

QCS Reports

The sixth-annual Community Church Service is scheduled to take place at the Tucumcari Convention Center Sunday, and according to Rev. James Witcher of Tucumcari he is expecting a good turnout.

“Well, we had over 400 people last year,” said Witcher, “and we’re putting out more than 450 chairs this year. And we can get more if we need them.”

Witcher said that the Ministerial Alliance of Tucumcari is sponsoring the community service and he said he has confirmations of five different churches closing their doors and inviting their memberships to the convention center.

The five churches include: The First Christian Church, the First Baptist Church, the Center Street United Methodist Church, the First Assembly of God and Trinity Baptist Church.

“Different ministers will be doing different things,” said Witcher. “We just want to meet and worship God together,”
The combined service will begin at 10:30 and will run no later than noon.
