Local woman garners national recognition

All Rite Towing and Repair, Inc. of Tucumcari has received national recognition from the trade publication American Towman Magazine. The area towing a repair firm has been included in Towman 500 — The Most Progressive Towmen in America.

“I am ecstatic about the honor,” said All Rite Towing and Repair owner Linda Unruh. “I mean only 500 companies in the U.S. and Canada were chosen and we were one of them. That is a spectacular acknowledgement.”

To reach the top 500 All Rite was competing against 134,000 other towing firms across the continent virtually all of them larger than All Rite’s ten person operation.
“And to be selected against all of those from a small town like Tucumcari is pretty special.”

This special recognition was commemorated by a specially designed Medallion celebrating the endurance and tenacity of those ranked among the 500. The medallions were presented on Nov. 22 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland during the American Towman Exposition, the world’s largest trade show and convention for emergency road service providers.

Recipients were chosen from criteria that includes longevity, fleet size and progressive practices such as training, computerization and safety instruction.

Unruh was also saluted by American Towman Magazine for overcoming “incredible odds” to start up her business and keep it going in a male dominated profession.

Unruh was the inducted into the Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame in October and in 2001, she was named Geico Direct “Woman of the Year in Towing.”

All Rite Towing and Repair was acknowledged as Auto And Truck Towing Company of the year in 2001.
