The New Mexico Activities Association announced that this year’s state championship baseball games will be played at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque.
The state tournament, which is scheduled for May 13-15, will also use La Cueva and Rancho High Schools in Albuquerque as well as the UNM Baseball Field for quarter final and semifinal games.
All championship and 5A semifinal games will be played at Isotopes Park.
Karen Honeycutt, the Activities Association’s Interim Executive Director, said the tournament’s move to Albuquerque from Farmington was a matter of logistics.
“The city of Farmington did an excellent job hosting the tournament,” said Honeycutt. “However, because of the geographic region and travel involved, the NMAA decided that having the tournament more centrally located would benefit the member schools.”
Farmington had hosted the tournament the previous two years.
