According to Evelyn Massy, district clerk for the Canadian River Soil and Water Conservation District, the canvassing board for the election previously scheduled for February 3 by the CRSWCD met during the regular meeting of the district on Monday, Jan. 19 and decided there would be no reason for an election to the board of supervisors.
Massy said the decision came about because Robert D. Bruce filed the only declaration of candidacy for position three on the board, and Katie Whitson filed the only declaration of candidacy for position four.
Since the election is uncontested and there are no other questions on the ballot, Massy said the election was cancel led pursuant.
Bruce was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Grace Phillips and Whitson was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Wade Whitson.
Other members of the board include: Tommy Wallace, Chairman; Larry F. Perkin, Vice Chairman; Glenn Briscoe, Secretary.
