St. Anne’s Church cooks Irish Stew

St. Anne’s Catholic Church will be holding it’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Irish stew luncheon at Hammond Hall Wednesday. The stew will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The cost is $6, with proceeds going to St. Anne’s Altar Rosary Society.

Arlene Frey, of St. Anne’s Church, said that the Altar Rosary Society will use the proceeds to improve and beautify the church’s sanctuary.

“Our fish fries benefit the church as a whole,” said Frey. “But our St. Patrick’s Day festivities will benefit the sanctuary this year.”

Frey said that the color scheme for Hammond Hall will be green for St. Patrick’s Day. “We’ll have all kinds of green stuff, and most everyone will be wearing green,” she said.

The Irish stew will be accompanied by homemade cornbread and a choice from a variety of homemade desserts. Frey said that the Irish stew will be served on an “all-you-can-eat” basis.

“People who want carry out can call 461-3155, and we’ll have their stew ready for them when they arrive,” said Frey. “Inside, the stew will be all you can eat, but I’m sorry to say only one dessert per person.”

Frey cautioned all visitors to be sure to wear green to the luncheon.

“If someone is not wearing green, they are liable to get pinched.”
