Ray Southerland, 90, died at the Laurel Hills Health Care Center in Tucumcari on Monday, March 22, 2004.
Ray Southerland was born April 25, 1913 in Watonga, Okla. For many years, he owned and operated, with his brother, the Southerland Brothers Petroleum Wholesale and Service Station in San Jon.
Ray Southerland is survived by his sister Eddie Rae Shafer (Wesky) of Grady; two brothers Charles Southerland (Alberta) of Vivi, Okla. and Sam Southerland (Linda) of Clinton, Okla. He is also survived by a cousin in San Jon and nephews and nieces.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the San Jon Cemetery with C.L. Bowe of San Jon officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot.

Gerald E. Floeck Jr., 79, died Saturday morning, March 20, 2004 in Tucumcari.
Gerald Floeck was born March 27, 1924 in DeQuincy, La. He was a prominent business man in Tucumcari carrying on the family business traditions including Jerry’s Bar and Liquor and Package Store on Route 66 until he retired in 1979.
He served in the U.S. Air Corps during World War II and later in the New Mexico Army National Guard.
Surviving Gerald Floeck are his grandsons, one great grandson, a sister Dorothy Woodard of Tucumcari, his former wife Dora Floeck of Tucumcari and her son.
He was preceded in death by his parents G.E. and Bessie K. Floeck Sr and his son Gerald Floeck III.
Funeral services are set for Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Center Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Seymour officiating. Burial will follow at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.
