House holds reading bee

The House Elementary School held their annual School Reading Bee, Thursday, March 25. The students are given a story to read silently to themselves. Then they visit with a panel of judges and answer comprehension and vocabulary questions about that story.  Finally they read a passage from the story to the judges. 
Participants are judged on clearness, fluency, pronunciation, comprehension, word definition, and application.
The first and second place winners will represent the school at the Regional Reading Bee in Anton Chico School on April 21.
Winners:
First grade: First; Macey Moon, second; Koby Valentine, third; Sadie Rush, participation; A.J. Hall.
Second grade: First; Josy Sepulveda, second; Casey Price, third; Aaron Romo.
Third grade: First; Ethan Johnson, second; Harly Hall, third; Cheyenne Price.
Fourth grade: First; Blake Moon, second; Daniel Lyons, third Quay Hampton, participation; Charles Hickman and Efrain Rodriguez.
Fifth grade: First; Angelica Sanchez, second; Elizabeth Paredez, third; Edwin Rodriguez.
Sixth grade: First – Tie; Shelby McElroy and Aleigh Weese, second – tie; Bobby Lee and P.J. Romo, third; Ricardo Sanchez, participation; Dylan Johnson.
Judges for the event were Lorraine Lee-Runyan, Doris Lee, Lynda Franklin, Jimmie Gayle Franklin, Peggy Tivis, Teresa Hampton, Ann Gellis and Jacque Valentine.
