The New Mexico Federation of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees will hold their 43 annual convention in Tucumcari April 15-17.

State Federation President Jerry Makowsksi of Roswell reported that roughly 180 members from 20 chapters throughout the state were expected to attend the convention in Tucumcari. According to Makowsksi, one of the business items on the agenda is the redistricting of New Mexico’s NARFE chapters.

“This has become necessary because of changes in both membership and number of chapters,” said Tom Anderson Tucumcari co-chairmen of the convention. “One proposal will take the Tucumcari chapter out of the Northeast District and place it in the Southeast District.”

The event will open with Tucumcari Mayor Antonio Apodaca welcoming the NARFE members to the city. The convention will include a banquet catered by Caprock Adventures and entertainment provided by Eastern New Mexico Blue Grass, Old Time Music Association and Shana Harmon. Tucumcari chapter president Ted Peabody is serving as host. The event was put together by Anderson, Julius Fitzner, Zue Ann Fowler and Pat Clark.
