Mesalands Community College Team Ropers Reynaldo Maestas and Justin Price completed the long round in sixth place out of a field of over 100 teams in the recently held Pampa, Texas Intercollegiate Rodeo.
Maestas and Price went on to finish in third place in the short round and fourth in the average in the team roping competition. According to Mesalands Rodeo Coach Danny Garcia, other team members were not as fortunate as Maestas and Price and struggled in the very wet conditions and cold weather that were prevelant in the Texas Panhandle over the weekend.
“We had a lot of broken barriers and the rough stock riders drew some really tough animals,” said a frustrated Garcia.
The Mesalands rodeo coach is hopeful that the next rodeo at Big Springs, Texas will be more productive for the team.
