Seventh grader recognized for essay

Tucumcari seventh grader Desirae Evans was honored by the Daughters of the American Revolution for her state winning essay, “The Louisiana Purchase; Thomas Jefferson’s Presidential Legacy.”

Evans was accompanied by her grandmother , Wanda Evans when she attended the 84th State Daughters of the American Revolution Conference in Carlsbad where she read her essay at the awards luncheon. New Mexico State American History Chairperson Pat Farr presented Evans with a certificate and a first place silver excellence in American History medal. The seventh grader’s essay will be sent for judging at regional competition.
