Fisher Sand and Gravel of Albuquerque is the low bidder for the reconstruction of I-40 between Newkirk and Tucumcari, according to New Mexico Transportation Secretary Rhonda Faught.
Construction will begin after the Department of Transportation finalizes the contract and completes a two month review process. This project is one of more than 40 transportation and infrastructure projects under Governor Richardson’s Improvement Partnership. “So far we have opened bids on seven GRIP projects and awarded contracts on five of them,” said Secretary Faught. “With every GRIP contract awarded, we move toward better and safer roads and ensure economic growth for our state.”
Some of the projects in GRIP include reconstruction of the Coors Interchange along I-40 in Albuquerque, four-laning US 64 from Raton to Clayton, improving US 54 from Tularosa to Santa Rosa, and improving US 180 from Carlsbad to the Texas border.
