The Quay County Fair, which many have waited for all year, has begun.
Activities have hit high gear today at the Quay County fair grounds as the demonstrations begin taking place. Booth exhibits, both commercial and educational, along with animals and skill displays were set up at the fair Monday and Tuesday. Judges examined the different exhibits Tuesday in the main fair building and awarded ribbons in a variety of different of categories. Today, the fair with its exhibits and different contests begins in earnest. Wheatland FCE Club will be featured with a Needlework Demonstration from 1-3 p.m. The carnival with its rides and diversions opens to the public today at 5 p.m. The Booster Swine Show begins at 6 p.m. in the show arena followed by the Junior Swine Show.
On Thursday the special program will be Puzzle Piece Crafts and Fun with Stamping by the Logan FCE Club from 1-3 p.m. A crowd favorite, the Watermelon Feed, is from 2-4 p.m. The Booster Market Lamb Show begins at 6 p.m. in the show arena, followed by Junior Market Lamb Show and the Junior Market Goat Show. Friday begins with the Flea Market at 9 a.m. in the Travis Nelson Building. The animal shows in the show arena begin at 4 p.m. with the County Bred Lamb and Pig Show, the Commercial Heifer Show at 5:30 and the Steer Show at 6:30 followed by the County Bred Steer Show. The evening ends with the Fair Exhibitors Dance.
On Saturday the Horse Show at the rodeo arena, the State Fair Livestock Entries, and the Goat Roping at the Farm Bureau all begin at 9 a.m. The Itty Bitty Rodeo will start at 10 a.m. at the rodeo arena and the Pet Parade at 1 p.m. at the show arena. The Horseshoe Pitching Contest also begins at 1 p.m. at the Farm Bureau.
The Buyers Appreciation Barbeque is Saturday at 4 p.m. The Junior Livestock Sale begins at 6 p.m. in the show arena. Exhibits and awards may be removed from the fair starting at 9 p.m. on Saturday.
