The Grady Bronchos came to Tucumcari to play Volleyball and play the young team did defeating the Tucumcari Rattlers 25-17, 25-19, 25-13.

Despite the defeat, Rattler Coach Alicia Trujillo said she felt her girls had played well and felt her girls were competitive in each of the games they played. “I felt we played better than we did against either Floyd or Logan,” said Trujillo about the contest . “These girls (Grady’s volleyball team) are good and they have some very good servers.”

The Bronchos servers were indeed problems for Tucumcari – hitting streaks of five and more that the rattlers were hard pressed to put back over the net. Trujillo pointed out that the Tucumcari squad while having some problems seems to be working though many of them. “They’re communicating more and hustling better,” said Trujillo. “I am so impressed with them.”

Tucumcari varsity JV and eighth grade teams will next match up against Elida at home on Tuesday. The undefeated JV squad will take part in the San Jon Tourney.
