Girl Scouts collect newspapers

The Tucumcari Girl Scouts will be holding a newspaper drive Saturday, Sept. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mesalands Community College on 11th Street. Representatives of the Girl Scouts said they encourage anyone with old newspapers to drop them off so they can be recycled.

Most area schools meet standards

William Thompson Tucumcari Public Schools recently met requirements established by the federal No Child Left Behind Act. That is good news for Tucumcari Middle School which had previously been on probation for failing to meet the standards.
