San Jon Public School is holding its annual Carnival Friday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. and according to those involved in the event in San Jon, “It’s coming along very well.”
The theme for the annual carnival and parade this year is “Music from A-Z: Make it Whatever You Want It to Be.”
According to Lucy Heddlesten of the school all of the aspects that traditionally go into the San Jon Carnival are present for Carnival 2004 including a parade, raffle, bake sales and a variety of games.
The games will include such things as skeet ball, wheel of fortune, a softball throw, a ping pong pow, a bean-bag toss, a dart throw, plinko, a fish pond, and a bucking booth.
Tickets for the games at the carnival are three for $1.
Heddlesten said traditionally two of the most popular games which take place at the carnival are the cake walk and bingo.
The cake walk will be hosted by the high school junior class. It will begin at 6 p.m. and will according to the junior class sponsor continue until “all the cakes are gone.”
The bingo activity will also be sponsored by the junior class and it too will begin at 6 p.m. Bingo will continue until all of the prizes which have been donated are gone.
The two top prizes for bingo were donated by an area gas station. The top prize will be $100 in gasoline and second prize is $50 in gasoline.
Coronation of the carnival royalty and raffle drawings will take place at 9 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.
On Thursday, Oct. 14 the day before Carnival 2004, San Jon will hold its annual carnival parade. The parade will begin in front of the school travel south to Route 66. The parade will then travel west to New Mexico 469. It will then travel back to the school.
