Five girls playing on Quay County “A” volleyball teams were named to the All District Volleyball squad. Two more were named as honorable mention.
Named to the team from Quay County were Shannan Lane and Lindsey Lee from House, Renee Sanders and Raynee Rachor from Logan and Ja Tawn Slutz from San Jon. Named as honorable mention to the team were Amber Humble from Logan and Danielle Lee from San Jon.
Both Lee and Lane of House said they were “excited about being chosen to the All District team and Lane an outside hitter said she owed much of the credit to her coaches.
“They really helped me,” said Lane.
Lindsey Lee a senior who had received similar recognition for basketball last year echoed her teammates feelings and added that it is always nice to be acknowledged for something that one does well. “It’s obviously an honor,” said Lee, a middle hitter for the Cowgirls. The honor theme was born out by other athletes who were named to the team.
Both of San Jon’s athletes named to the team said they too felt honored by the selection.
“It’s an honor and privilege to be picked as one of the few players that are honored in this way,” said junior Slutz of San Jon. Sophomore Danielle Lee said she felt much the same as her teammate. “It really is an honor to get this in only my second year of volleyball.”
All three Logan players selected for the All-District Team said they were elated to be named to the team. “I’m really excited to named All District especially when you realize that I sat out the last two years with a knee injury. So to get this is pretty exciting,” said Rachor. Humble had a somewhat similar feeling about being named honorable mention to the team. “It’s pretty special because I was on the bench all last year.”
“I’m just happy about this,” said Logan High School’s Sanders about being named to the team. “I worked hard for it all year.”
