Second graders create Thanksgiving recipes

The Quay County Sun asked the teachers of the second grade at Tucumcari Elementary School to ask their students what they would like for a Thanksgiving meal: Following are some of the responses.
Space limitations keeps us from running all of them so we randomly picked a hand full of the recipes. We apologize if your child or grandchild was not chosen.

Laura Nicole Evans: A good thanksgiving meal would be: Green beans, salad, turkey, sweet tea and plain tea, cherry pie, green bean casserole and corn bread.
To fix green beans, I would buy a can at the store and open it and put butter in it. To fix salad, I would cut the cheese into cubes and cut the tomatoes and put the lettuce in and mix it all together. To fix turkey, I would buy a turkey and take the heart out of it and season it. To fix bread, I would buy some from a store and season it.

Gabby Fletcher…..would be: Turkey, corn, pizza, pumpkin pie, salad, green beans, French fries, cheese cake, fried potatoes. To fix turkey, I will stuff it. To fix corn, I would pick the corn and cook it. To fix pizza, I would make the dough and put the sauce and cheese.

Yolanda Arellano….would be: Pizza, pumpkin pie, coke, chips, salad, French fries. To fix pizza, I would put bread that is shaped like a pizza. To fix pumpkin pie, I would put the pumpkin stuff that is in a can an put flour in the bowl. To fix salad, I would put tomatoes, ranch dressing and lettuce.

Santiago Elebario….would be: Pizza, coke, French fries, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, grilled cheese. To fix pizza, I would put extra cheese. To fix grilled cheese, I would put no crust. To fix mashed potatoes I would put extra potatoes.

Victoria Pacheco….Cherry pie, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, caramel apples, pizza, salad, French fries, casserole and turkey. To fix cherry pie I would get crust at the store and get cherries then you get the cherries and put them n the pan then you get the crust and put it in the oven. To fix Pecan pie, I would get pecans at the store and get crust too, put the pecans in the pan then put the crust on. Then you put it into he oven.

Gabriel Molinas….Turkey, corn stuffing, cornbread, green beans, pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, apples. To fix corn, I would put it in a bowl and boil water in the bowl and put the corn in the bowl and put in on t he stove. To fix turkey, I would put it in the oven and let it cook. To fix apples, I would wash it with water then eat it.
Katrina….Turkey, gravy, pie corn. To fix a plum pie, I would put it on 70 degrees. To fix gravy, I would put it on 70 degrees. To fix summer corn, I would put it on 70 degrees. To fix a turkey, I would put it on 70 degrees.

Robert Roark…Pumpkin pie, turkey, soup, mashed potatoes, peas, cake, whipped cream, brownies. To fix turkey, I would get all the bones out, but leave one in and put it in the oven for eight minutes. To fix cake, I would put the bread in the oven at about five degrees and put frosting on the cake. To fix brownies, I would get chocolate bread and bake it at 10 degrees and put the chocolate on it.

Michael Sandoval….Ham, corn, mashed potatoes, turkey, salad and cake. To fix ham, I would get a pan, put it on for five minutes. To fix mashed potatoes, I would make it out of flour. To fix turkey, I would get a chicken.

Gale Munsell….Turkey, pumpkin pie with whipped cream, marshmallows, pizza, hot dog and corn. To fix Turkey, I would stick a needle in it, put pineapple on it, put it in the oven for one hour. To fix pizza, I would order pizza, to fix hot dog, I would put bred under the hotdog and cover it with mustard and ketchup. To fix pumpkin pie, I would get a can from the store, open it, pour it in a pie shell, and cook it for ten minutes at 300 degrees.

Paul Agruello….Green Jello, chef salad, cheese cake and apple pie. To fix apple pie, I would fix the crust and fix the apples and bake for 10 minutes. To fix a box of Green Jello, I would freeze it for six minutes. To fix cheese cake, I would bake for five minutes. To fix chef salad, I would put salad and meat.

Destiny Bolin….Turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, ham, apple pie, biscuits and corn. To fix turkey, I would put in the oven and I would not put nothing at all on the turkey. I would say it took about 16 minutes. To fix corn, I would put it in a pan and put in salt and butter. To fix apple pie, I would put it in a pan and then I would put it in the oven.

Rosario Lucero….Turkey, cheese cake, green beans and chicken. To fix chicken, I would roll it in flour and put it in the oven for 15 minutes. To fix corn, I would peel the green stuff and cook it. To fix green beans I would cook them. To fix mashed potatoes, I would mash them.

Breanna Ellis….Turkey, corn and strawberries. To fix Turkey, I would boil them and put the turkey on 16 minutes. To fix corn, I would crust them and put on two minutes. To fix strawberries, I would grow them. To fix corn on the cob, I would boil them and put them on three minutes.

James Arthur Gagne….Mashed potatoes, turkey, corn, pumpkin pie. To fix mashed potatoes, I would smash the potatoes with a smasher. To fix turkey, I would just put it in the oven and it will just warm up in 30 seconds. To fix corn, I would put corn in the oven about 20 seconds. To fix pumpkin pie, I would get a medal tray and put it in the oven and it will be finished.

Jill Coyazo….Turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, cornbread, gravy, green beans, corn and stuffing. To fix corn find some corn, cut it up and get a bowl. To fix green beans, I would put them in hot water. To fix cranberry sauce, I would find cranberries and smash them.

Daniel Blea….Turkey, mashed potatoes and corn. To fix a pie, I would put whipped cream on top. To fix mashed potatoes, I would put salt and pepper on them. To fix turkey, I would cook it in the oven for five minutes.

Maresha Crutcher…Turkey, stuffing cornbread, pumpkin pie. To fix cranberries, I would put it in the bow and fix it. To fix cornbread, I would cook it in the oven. To fix pumpkin pie, I would bake it in a big pot to bake it in the oven.

Estevah Villanueva…Turkey, pie, salad, mashed potatoes, beans, sweet potatoes, Jello, cake. To fix a Turkey, I would stuff it with giblets, onions, crackers and celery. To fix potatoes, I would use a spoon. To fix pie, I would put it in the oven to bake. After it is cold, I would put some whip cream on top.

Gabriel S…Turkey, pizza, French fries, hot dog and potatoes. To fix pizza, I would put it in the oven, take it out and let it cool a minute. To fix French fries, I would put the French fries in the pan and boil them. To fix hot dogs, I would put water in a pan then you put the weenies in and let it boil.

Becky Gray…Turkey, chicken, corn and pie. To fix turkey, I would cook it then I would cut it and I would eat it. To fix chicken, I would cook it, then I would cut it, then eat it. To fix corn, I would cook it and eat it. To fix apple pie, I would cut it and eat it.

D’Emte’e Sandoval…Ham, pecan pie, chicken and dressing. To fix chicken, I would put the chicken in flour and you get grease and put it in there. To fix ham, I would buy it and then you put it in the oven. To fix pecan pie, you get pecans. You get crust and put the crust on the pan and you put the pecan inside. Then you put the crust over it again and you put it in the oven.

Crystal Hernandez…Turkey, salad, biscuits, mashed patatoes. To fix Turkey, I would put salt, mashed patatoes and put it in the oven for 18 minutes. To fix bisquits, I would make flower in two bowls and then put it int the oven 15 minutes. To fix mashed patatoes, I would take off the potatoes’ skins and then mahs it and then put it in the microwave.

Anthony Ramirez…Turkey, buns, mashed potatoes, pecan pie, green jello, apple pie, corn, strawberry cake, green beans, spahetti and meat balls, celery, brown gravy, spinach and hot dogs. To fix apple pie, I would put crust before I would make it. To fix mashed potatoes, I would get potatoes and smash them. To fix green jello, I would buy it. To fix turkey, I would buy it.

Saul Moriel…Turkey, mashed potatoes and buns. To fix turkey, I would boil the turkey and let the turkey cool off. To fix peas, I would boil them and after I would put them on the table. To fix mashed potatoes, I would smash them and cook them.

Daeja Apodaca…Turkey, Mashed potatoes, salad, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie and green Jello. To fix Turkey, I would put it in the oven then wait two minutes. Then get it stuffed with stuffing. To fix mashed potatoes, I would get some potatoes, get a bat and hit the potatoes. Then eat it.. To fix green Jello, I would just buy it.

Jackie Romero…Turkey, ham, chicken, green beans. To fix chicken, I would put it in an oven for 60 minutes. To fix Turkey, I would put it in an oven for 60 minutes. To fix ham, I would put it in a pan for 15 minutes. To fix green beans, I would put it in a microwave for 20 minutes.

Javier Villanueva…Turkey, mashed potatoes, apple pie, carrots, corn, biscuits and cake. To fix corn, I would fry it in the oven for about seven minutes. Then you eat it. To fix cake, I would put it in the oven, then you take it out and then you put sprinkles on it. To fix biscuits, I would put crust on them. Then you put them on the table.

Mikyla Galvah…Mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and corn. To fix mashed potatoes, I would peal the potatoes, wash them, put them in a bowl and put them in the oven. To fix gravy, I would cook some mean with coke in it and pour the gravy in a bowl. To fix green beans, I would get some green beans, put them in a bowl and cook them.

Sean Austin…Turkey, mashed potatoes and cheese cake. To fix cheese cake, I would crush the cheese. pat it and cook it for 14 hours. To fix turkey, I would wash it first, bake the meat and put pepper on it. To fix potatoes, I would make it with salt and pepper.

Janelle Coyazo…Pumpkin pie, apple pie, stuffing and corn. To fix pumpkin pie, it would need curst and I would have to get some pumpkins. To fix corn, I would have to plant it and grow it. To fix apple pie, I would add sugar and get apples.

Jeremy Warren…Turkey, pecan pie, sweet potatoes and cheese cake. To fix turkey, I would salt and pepper it and add oil and cook it for an hour. To fix potatoes, I would salt and pepper them and then cook it for 30 minutes and then put some sour cream on. To fix cheese cake, I would put eggs on top.

Mary Romero…Turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, corn, chicken and strawberry cake. To fix corn, I would put them in a bowl and then I will put it in the microwave. To fix chicken, I would put it in the oven and I will put it on 15 minutes. To fix pumpkin pie, I would pour milk in and then put it in the oven for 16 minutes.

Katherine Danyell Sena…Turkey, corn, potatoes and gravy. To fix turkey, I would bake it and then I would put it in the oven. To fix corn, I would buy corn from the store in a can. To fix mashed potatoes, I would mash them. To fix gravy, I would use grease to make it.

Marcus Chavez…Mashed potatoes, corn, turkey, ham, pumpkin pie, Jello and bread. To fix turkey, I would bake the turkey about an hour. To fix corn, I would cook the corn about an hour. To fix a ham, I would put some meat on it.

Mateo Romero…Turkey, mashed potatoes, pie, peas, soup, corn on the cob, cornbread, cranberry pie and fruit salad. To fix turkey, I would get on from the store and put it in the oven to cook till it was done. To fix mashed potatoes, I would mash them and put milk and butter. To fix pie, I would put whipped cream on top and then put the filling in the crust.

Jomichael Baca…Turkey, green beans, yams, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, corn on the cob, salad and apple pie. To fix yams, would open the can of yams then I would get a pot and pour the yams in the pot fo one hour. To fix sweet potatoes, I would open the can of sweet potatoes and put it in a bowl then put them in the microwave and warm it for two minutes. To fix pecan pie, I would take the pie out of the freezer and take the trash off and then put the pie in the oven.

Lacey Mullenix…Turkey, mashed potatoes, beets, corn, cake, cornbread, cranberries, fruit salad, olives and peas. To fix turkey, I would kill it, then I will quill him, wash him, then I will cook him. Then I will eat him. To fix mashed potatoes, I would peel the potatoes, then I will get a plastic bowl and put the potatoes in then I would put the potatoes in a mixer and stir, then I would add butter. To fix beets, I would buy them, then I would get a bowl, then I would open the can and put the beets in t he bowl.

Kyeli Stowe…Ham, corn, mashed potatoes and turkey. To fix corn, I would pick the corn from the garden and then I would peel them, then I would cook it. To fix mashed potatoes, I would cut potatoes and then I would cook them. To fix ham, I would put the ham in the pan , then I would cook it for 10 minutes.

Kevin Blea…Turkey, ham, pie, brisket, corn, peas, soup, fruit salad and cranberry pie. To fix turkey, I would pluck it, put it in the oven and check it with a thermometer. To fix pizza, I would get the mix, decorate it, put it in the oven, take it out and then eat it. To fix mahsed potatoes, I would peel the potatoes, get a pan, get a masher, mash the potatoes, cook it and then eat it.

Mariah Ann Arreola…Turkey, mashed potatoes, pie, cornbread, Jello, peas, fruit salad and ice cream. To fix pie, I would get some canned milk and pie mix, then I would mix the pie mix and milk together and put it in the oven. To fix ice cream, I would put the ice cream in the freezer and later I would take it out of the freezer. To fix fruit salad, I would get a lot of fruit and cut it all up and mix all the fruit together and put whipped cream on it.

Antonio Aragon…Carrot soup, turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie and corn on the cob. To fix pumpkin pie, I would cook it for 10 minutes at 500 degrees. To fix turkey, I would stick a needle in it and cook. To fix corn on the cob, I would cook it for three minutes.

Desmond Nathan…Pumpkin pie, eggs, turkey, dressing. To fix pumpkin pie, I would put it int he oven for two minutes at cold degrees. To fix eggs, I would eat them up. To fix turkey, I would cut off his head then I would eat him up.

Lee Powers…Turkey, pumpkin pie, ice cream, mashed potatoes, cranberries and carrots. To fix turkey, I would put it in the oven for 10 minutes. To fix pumpkin pie, I would use milk and use pumpkins, cook it in the oven for one minute. To fix cranberries, I would cook them for one minute on high heat.

Jeremy Lopez…Turkey, all the trimmings and pumpkin pie. To fix turkey, I would put it in the oven till it’s done. To fix potatoes, I woud cook them after we mash them and add butter and milk. To fix stuffing, I would put pice, onion and celery and gibblets in it.

Nancy Watkins…Turkey, stuffing, corn, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, green beans and cornbread. To fix cornbread, I would get a pan and cook it. To fix corn, I would cook it. To fix cranberry sauce, I would find cranberries and smash them.

Antonio Ochoa…Turkey, corn, cornbread, pumpkin pie, mahshed potatoes and cranberry sauce. To fix mashed potatoes, I would mash the potatoes in a pot. To fix cornbread, I would bake it. To fix green beans I would cook it, put it in a pot and get it. To fix pumpkin pie, I would bake it, get it, put it in the oven.

Donnie Trujillo…Mashed potatoes, turkey, corn and green beans. To fix turkey, I would take the bones out, then you cook it and when it is done you can eat it. To fix corn, I would let the water boin then I would pour the corn in tand when the corn is soft, you can eat it. To fix mashed potatoes, I would get some potatoes and then I would smash them and now they are done.

To fix turkey, I would go get a turkey from the store and I would put it n the stove till it is done. To fix corn, I would put it in a bowl and stick it on a stove. To fix green beans, I would get a bowl of water and I would put the green beans in the bowl and then turn on the stove.

Ben Aragon…Turkey, cheese cake, cranberry sauce, corn, pumpkin pie. To fix turkey, I would put it in the oven first and then I would leave it alone for a little while. To fix pumpkin pie, I would slice up a pumpkin and I would take all the seeds out and then put it in the oven. To fix potatoes, I would cut the potatoes with a knife, but first I would peel the skin off.

Destinee…Turkey, stuffing, corn and gravy. To fix stuffing, I would cook it and eat it. It is good. To fix corn, I would read the direction and cook it and then I would eat it. To fix gravy, I would put stuff in it and boy is ti good. You should try it.

Kali Greham…Macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, green Jello and apple pie.To fix green jello, I would get the box and pour it in to a pot, add a little water and put it in the refridgerator. To fix macoroni, I would pour it into a bowl and add water to it and put it in the microwave for four minutes. To fix mashed potatoes, I would cook it then put butter in it and then mash it.

Shayan…French fries, turkey, salad and pizza. To fix French fries, I would fry potatoes. To fix pizza I would get some dough and put cheese on it. To fix Turkey, I would put it in the oven and cook it.

Zack…Turkey, salad, pizza, bread, potatoes, pumpkin pie and tea. To fix Turkey, I would put it in the oven and cook it. To fix Salad, I would mix lettuce, tomatoes and dressing. To fix pizza, I would put it in the oven and cook it.

Marie…Pumpkin pie, pizza, cokes, turkey, French fries and hot dogs. To fix pumpkin pie I would put the pumpkin in first then put two eggs and milk. To fix turkey, first I would put into the oven and cook it. To fix french fries, I would cut potatoes and fry them.

Maribel Villa…Turkey, apple pie, cake, mashed potatoes. To fix apple pie, I would cook in the stove. To fix turkey, I would cook in the oven. To fix mashed potatoes, I would cook in a pot.

Alonso…Pizza, chocolate cake, turkey. To fix a pizza, I would get bread and put cheese on it. Then I woud put it in the oven for 300 minutes. To fix chocolate cake, I would get some chocolate from the store, get bread and put it in the oven for 200 minutes. To fix a turkey, I would get a turkey from the store and put it in the oven for 200 minutes.

Karley Acosta…Turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie and pizza. To fix pizza, I would put it in the oven and cut it in pieces and eat it. To fix Turkey, I would put it in the stove and I would take it out of the stove and eat it. To fix cake, I would read the instructions and put milk and flour in it.

Perla Salas…Apple pie, pizza and cake. To fix apple pie, I would cook it in a stove. To fix chocolate cake, I would cook the chocolate and ice cream and ricorad.

Martha R. Aceves…Turkey, apple pie, pumpkin pie, and mashed potatoes. To fix Apple pie, I would cook it in the stove. To fix mashed potatoes, I would smash the potatoes. To fix Turkey, I woud put the turkey int he oven for a few hours.
