Tucumcari High School Wrestlers go into today’s tournament with two solid performances under their belts having competed in the Randall High School Invitational Wrestling Tournament in Amarillo and in a series of duals in Dumas, Texas.
According to Tucumcari High School head wrestling coach Eddie Encinias, the two contests have honed his wrestlers to a very good edge.
In addition, he said they did extremely well in the two wrestling venues both of which pitted his grapplers against much bigger schools and some wrestlers who have had a great deal more experience on the mat than his wrestlers.
“We did well,” said Encinias. “It was a good test for our boys and they came through well. Some came through very well.”
Encinias said, in fact, so much promise is being shown by the Tucumcari High School wrestlers, he is looking for some very good showings at state competition in three months time.
“I can see us bringing as many as five medals home from state,” said the head coach.
