Lisa Mitchell of Tucumcari was named the winner of the 2004 New Mexico Junior cattle Growers association Showmanship Award at the recent Joint Stockmen’s Convention in Albuquerque.
Kate White of the Junior Cattle Growers Association said the showmanship award is given every year to a member who exhibits cattle in the junior beef show at the New Mexico State Fair.
“Each year a judge is chosen to watch the shows and determine which member best exhibits the showmanship qualities it takes to be successful in the show ring,” White said.
Mitchell, an eighth-grader at Logan Middle School, said she has been showing steers and lambs for five years and is involved in both 4-H and FFA.
Mitchell is the daughter of Dale and Debra Mitchell.
