By Leslie Radford: QCS interim managing editor
My name is Leslie Radford. I’m a redneck country girl from Muleshoe, Texas.
Most of my family is there, including my mom the truck driver and my two younger brothers: Cody, 21, runs our family farming business and Randall,17, works at a feedyard down the road from our house in the sandhills just south of the ’Shoe. My dad died a few years back, but he left us a legacy any custom farmer can only dream about. His immediate family, as well as my mother’s, all live around Muleshoe.
I’m a small-town girl with agricultural interests and I hope I can project those interests as the interim managing editor for the Quay County Sun. And I would like to see more community involvement with the paper. That’s what we’re all about: community.
I have a lot of experience with southern engineering, four-wheeling and firearms (thanks to my brothers). I’ve had a lot of cool jobs that have included working at radio stations and fitness centers. And I’ve had a lot of hard jobs that included setting pipe in 100-degree weather and hoeing cotton in even hotter weather.
But I’ve always loved photography and writing. I’ve spent the last 10 years working mostly in media.
I like to talk and meet new people, so don’t feel afraid to call me up with any story ideas. I look forward to working with everyone in the Tucumcari and Quay County area.
This is a hometown paper and I want to continue its tradition of reporting local news. I need your help, especially in these next few weeks as I learn my way around. (Can anybody recommend a good tour guide?)
Keep me informed and I’ll give you a paper worth reading!
