The San Jon High School boys basketball team defeated the House Cowboys on Thursday, 71-63 while the San Jon girls lost to the Cowgirls 60-24.
Despite a 38-point scoring effort by House’s Nathan Foust, the Coyotes of San Jon won in overtime by eight points Thursday. San Jon outscored House 15-7 in the overtime period. Trey Rusk and Jared Archuleta led San Jon scoring. House had a five-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. Archuleta hit two three-pointers in the final period of regulation to spark San Jon.
The Lee sisters, Lindsy and Sara, were once again high scorers for the House Cowgirls, combining for 30 points. The Cowgirls had a 20-point lead over San Jon at the half, and never looked back. Outscored 25-9 in the second half, San Jon could play for pride only. JaTawn Slutz and Danielle Lee combined for 15 of San Jon’s points. Kimberly Lyons added 12 points to House’s total.
