Free school lunches continue for now
Tucumcari schools announced recently that all students will continue on Provision II “Free” Lunch status until after a school board meeting on Feb. 21. At that time, a final determination will be made for the remainder of the school year.

Board members attend training
Local school board members will attend a state-sponsored Board Member Institute Feb. 11-12 in Santa Fe. Attendees will receive training in how to be better board members. Board members will all be visiting the state legislators at the Roundhouse.
Training workshops include updates on the NMAA, New Mexico’s three-tiered licensure system and charter school legislation. Call (505) 983-5041 for details.

Child advocates sought
Volunteers are being sought to provide advocacy for abused and neglected children in the state’s custody. Citizen Review Board members meet once a month in the local community and review several cases involving children.
