The following items occurred at district court according to officials:
• Aristo Perez plead guilty on Feb. 21 to breaking into a local law firm. The district attorney’s office had DNA evidence that connected Perez with the break-in. Blood found on a pry bar matched Perez’s DNA which the DA’s office had access to because Perez was a convicted felon.
• Marc Barnes was sentenced to 18 months in prison on Feb. 21 for failing to register as a sex offender. Barnes was arrested originally on possession of drug paraphernalia charges, under an alias. The district attorney’s office sent his fingerprints to the FBI and found out his real name and that he was a convicted sex offender.
• The trial for Robert Gonzalez begins on Tuesday. Gonzalez, a former employee at the Quay County Juvenile Detention center, is charged with criminal sexual penetration of a minor and criminal sexual contact with a minor.
