Keep Tucumcari Beautiful Campaign — April 18 – 23 has been designated as “Keep Tucumcari Beautiful Week”. Free landfill dumping will be available for City of Tucumcari residential customers, with proof of residence. The City of Tucumcari is responsible for the collection and disposal of household trash only. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to dispose of tree limbs, yard debris and large items, which include furniture and appliances. Arrangements for pick up of items other than household trash can be arranged, for a fee, by contacting City Hall at 461-3451.

Community development block grant — The City of Tucumcari has been awarded $475,000 for the East Central Water and Sewer Project, which will include street improvements, fire hydrants, water lines, and service connections for Center, Aber and High Streets from Adams to Grove Streets. Congratulations to Doug Powers and Lisa Andrada for submitting a successful grant application!

Golf professional — We would like to welcome Howie Tucker as the new Golf Professional for the City of Tucumcari Municipal Golf Course. Upcoming events include “Morning with the Masters” to be held on April 10 with a 9 a.m. shotgun scramble. The $25 entry fee includes breakfast. The “Annual Tri Format Spring Kick-Off Tournament” will be held on April 16, 2005 at 9 a.m. This tournament is a 27 hole, two person team, with best ball, alternate shot, and scramble formats. The $80 team entry fee, also includes lunch. Please contact Tucker at 461-1849 for more information.

Golf course closure — The Golf Course will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday aerification.

Quay county rabies clinic — The annual clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on April 16 at the City Warehouse, 302 W. Center St.

Pot holes — The City of Tucumcari crews continue to work on pot holes, as weather permits. To report a pot hole, you may log on to the Web site at www.cityoftucumcari.com

S.P.I.R.I.T. Comittee — Pete Kampfer, Economic Development director, will be in Washington, D.C. the week of April 11 to meet with the S.P.I.R.I.T. Committee and congressional delegates regarding the need to make Highway 54 from Tucumcari to the Texas State Line a four lane highway.

Landfill public hearing — A public hearing will be held at the Tucumcari Convention Center on April 13-14 regarding the application for a landfill permit for the City of Tucumcari. This permit is important for the City of Tucumcari to be able to open a new landfill.
