€Tucumcari Schools Superintendent William Reents is having surgery to repair a broken foot, officials said.
Bertha Garcia, Reents¹ secretary, said Reents is expected to return to work on Thursday.
Reents, one of five finalists for Clovis¹ superintendent¹s position, has been in a cast for several weeks.
Reents is scheduled to interview with the Clovis school board on Monday.

€ Alpha Mu Chapter of beta Sigma Phi is now accepting Scholarship Applications from area graduating seniors for two $200 scholarships. Applications can be obtained from Apollo Gym, 121 E. Main St. in Tucumcari.
The scholarship application must be postmarked by April 15. They should be mailed to: Alpha Mu Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi; c/o Mary Jimenez; P.O. Box 427; Tucumcari, N.M. 88410.
Applications can also be dropped off at Apollo Gym.

€ The San Jon Board of Education will hold their monthly meeting at 6 p.m. April 11 in the ITV room.
Items to be discussed are to approve design development for Vo-Ag construction, a student presentation by Candy Hood, determine the quality of education survey questions, financial matters, and the superintendent¹s report.

€ There will be an honors assembly to honor students on the ³all-A² and ³A-B² honor roll 9:22 a.m. Friday in the Tucumcari Middle School gym.
Parents are invited to attend.

€The THS class of 1985 is still looking for their classmates.

€ The Talent Literary Guild is sponsoring an amateur poetry contest, free to everyone. There are 50 prizes total, including a $1,000 grand prize.

€ San Jon Mayor, Joe Clark, is proclaiming Friday as ³Tribute to Teachers Day.²
Clark is calling on all people of San Jon to honor the community¹s teachers and to thank them for the difference they make in children¹s lives.

€ The Quay County Maternal Child and Community Health Council will be providing surveys on environmental health issues.
The surveys will be available until April 15 at the public library, City Hall, Quay County Extension office, Quay County Family Health Center, Public Health office, and the Quay County Manager¹s office, in Tucumcari; the village office, senior citizen¹s center and Logan Family Health Center, in Logan; the village office and senior citzen¹s center in San Jon; and the village office in House.
