The Tucumcari Rattlers won two games at San Jon Tuesday. The Rattlers, (7-5), won the first game 10-6 and the second game 10-7.

Game 1
The Coyotes (5-5) started off on the right foot with a three-run first inning. Will McEntire doubled, Jonathan Brashear singled and Danny Shetter singled. The Rattlers, however, started even better with a four-run first inning with hits from Joe Hurley and Drew White. Matt Garcia added a 2-RBI single.

By the top of the fifth inning, Tucumcari was in control 7-3. Andre DeBord nailed a 2-RBI double to put the Rattlers up 9-3.

Coyotes Luke Bugg and Danny Shetter hit runs in during the bottom of the fifth to pull San Jon within 4 runs, but that was it for San Jon scoring.

San Jon’s McEntire and Brashear got a rally going in the sixth but no runs materialized.

Rattler Coach Tony Alarcon liked John Sewell’s pitching.

“John pitched a solid game and our defense improved,” Alarcon said. “We finished strong.”

San Jon Coach Waymond Ragland liked his team’s effort.
“We had intensity,” Ragland said. “We’re leaving too many on base. We’ve got to get hits at the right time.”
