Quay County Sheriff’s Deputy Leonard Garcia was arrested Friday on a criminal trespass charge after walking uninvited into his ex-wife’s residence, police records show.
Garcia entered a plea of not guilty Monday and posted $1,000 bond in Quay County Magistrate Court.
Tucumcari Police Officer Pedro Bolin responded to a call Friday at 1424 S. Seventh St. Garcia’s ex-wife, Veronica Garcia, told Bolin that Garcia walked into her house uninvited, according to Bolin’s report.
She also told Bolin that Garcia walked into her son’s bedroom and picked up her son’s baseball glove and started walking out of the house. She said she confronted her ex-husband and he told her “tomorrow was going to be worse,” the police report showed.
Bolin reported that Veronica Garcia told him her ex-husband had “smelled terribly of alcohol.”
Quay County Sheriff Jack Huntley did not return messages left at the sheriff’s department. Deputy Garcia could not be reached for comment.
