Five members of the Tucumcari High School chapter of Distributive Education Clubs of America received awards at a DECA banquet Tuesday at the Holiday Inn.
The following students were honored at the banquet:
Jacob Otero – Most Improved Student
Erica Sandoval – Salesperson of the Year and DECA Image Student of the Year
Samantha Taylor – Highest DECA Grade Point Average and DECA Image Student of the Year.

Heritage award
The Nara Visa Cowboy Gathering is accepting nominations for the Buck Ramsey Heritage Award to be presented Sept. 25 at the annual gathering.
Nominations should be in story form, depicting the qualifications for the award.
Some of the criteria for choosing a recipient is as follows:
• Someone from northeast New Mexico or northwest Texas.
• Family homesteaded in the area
• Long-term participation in ranching or livestock industry
• Has retained cowboy traditions
• Community involvement.
