One hot topic at Thursday’s Housing Authority meeting was furnaces — pun intended. Specifically, officials declared the terminology used in an invitation to bid for heating and cooling systems was unclear. They said bidders were unsure whether they had to use brand name units or just those compatible with the brand name. Hence, the authority chose to reject the bids and rebid the furnace project under clearer terms.
Another growing concern was a separate housing authority to be created for the major renovation project going on in Five Mile Park, officials said. Although the subject was presented at length by Housing Authority Director Robert Pacheco, officials decided to postpone any decisions until they had proper legal representation.
