Effie Terrill
Services: 10 a.m. today at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Effie Belle Terrill, 91, of El Paso, Texas, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at her home.

She was born on July 12, 1914, in Quail, Texas, to J.W. and Myrtle Jewel Crowley.

She married Buster Terrill on Nov. 28, 1935, in Santa Rosa. She lived the majority of her life in the Clovis and Melrose area. She spent the last seven years of her life living with her daughter in El Paso, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Bill Terrill; and a son-in-law, John Crews Sr.

Survivors include a daughter, Sonjia Crews of El Paso, Texas; two granddaughters, Kim Arispe (and husband, Rick) of El Paso, Texas, and Karlyn Crews of El Paso; a grandson, John Crews Jr. of El Paso, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Mackenzie Crews, both of El Paso, Texas; a sister, Ina Miller of Logan; two brothers, Ernest Crowley (Daisy) of Carlsbad and James “Pete” Crowley (Bobbie) of Farmington; and a daughter-in-law, Sandee Terrill of Garland, Texas.

Sam Kelley will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Honorary pallbearers are John Crews Jr., Julian Herrera, Rick Arispe, Bob Houk, and Bernie Manfrey.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

Wanda Darnell
Services: 3 p.m. (CDT) Sunday at The Chapel of The Good Shepherd at McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service in Mustang, Okla.

Wanda Beth Darnell, 52, of Mustang, Okla., died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at her home west of Mustang after a long battle with cancer.

She was born on Feb. 26, 1953, in Borger, Texas, to Vernon and Leona Mosher Olsen.

She grew up in West Texas, New Mexico, Missouri, and Arkansas. She was a 1971 graduate of Omaha High School in Omaha, Ark., and had lived in Mustang, Okla., since 1984. She was a member of Canadian Valley Rangerettes and attended the Pentecostal Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, “Little Ace” and Kenny; three sisters, Carol Rae, Annagail and Vernell.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Darnell; a son, Russell Darnell of Mustang, Okla.; a daughter, Shelley Hanson (and husband, Heath) of Minco, Okla.; a brother, Bill Olsen of Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Juanita Foster of Galena, Mo.; and her step-dad, Dub Irving of San Jon.

Burial will be at noon Monday at San Jon Cemetery.

Arrangements are by McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service of Mustang, Okla.

Maria “Edie” Quintana
Services: Noon today at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

Maria “Edie” Quintana, 79, of Dalhart, Texas, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, in Amarillo, Texas.

She was born March 26, 1926, to Jose and Paz (Jasper) Montoya in Guadalupe.

She married Saturnino “Sat” Quintana in Tucumcari. They honeymooned in Dalhart and ended up settling there.

Her family said she was always looking out for others before herself and loved to make special things for them, spoiled the grandkids and crocheted blankets for their pets. They called her the best tamale cook in the world, with tortillas being her specialties.

They said she was always ready to help anyone in need and loved the Catholic Church and Crusillo movement, placing Jesus as the number one way.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a brother, Manuel Montoya.

Survivors include a son, Frank Quintana of Goodwell, Okla.; three daughters, Dora Bassett of Texarkana, Texas, Barb Gibson of Amarillo, Texas, Cheryl Chaney of Amarillo, Texas; and one sister, Antonia Quintana of Tucumcari.

Burial will follow services today in Memorial Park Cemetery.
