Services: 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Tucumcari.
Emily Wicks, 87, died on Sunday Nov. 27, 2005, in Marysville, Wash.
She was born October 7, 1918, in Pittsburgh, Pa.
She graduated from the Presbyterian School of Nursing in 1941, joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 during WW II and came to Tucumcari with her husband Robert “Bob” Wicks in 1946, where he was a pharmacist and managed the Sands-Dorsey Drug Store until his death in 1980.
She had been an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Tucumcari, a member of the PEO, La Esperanza Club and several Tucumcari bridge clubs.
Family members said God blessed them with a wonderful Christian mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a loving friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Janet Ludwig, and her husband.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Lou Scarr of Pennsylvania; her son, Robert Wicks (and wife, Trudy) of Marysville, Wash.; her daughter Diana Hamm (Wayne) of Hobbs; grandchildren, Robert Wicks, Allison Mingo (Tyler), Lindsey Brown (Ryan), her namesake Emily Wicks, Clara Hamm and Adam Hamm; and three great-grandchildren, Melody Wicks, Alexus Brown and Lucy Brown.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery for the family and close friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church in Tucumcari for everyone to attend.
