Gift a tree for the holidays
The Los Angeles based TreePeople are once again offering their tree dedication program, according to a release from the group. Through their Gift of Life dedication, holiday shoppers can buy a tree to be planted in honor of those on the gift list, the release said.

New nonprofit for hepatitis C
The New Mexico Hepatitis C Alliance formed a new nonprofit corporation, according to the release from the group. The release said an estimated one in 25 New Mexicans suffer from the disease but many don’t even know it due to lack of obvious symptoms.
This group serves to bring national awareness and resources to hepatitis C prevention and treatment, according to the release.
City re-certified for funds
Tucumcari was recently re-certified as a community for the upcoming fiscal year under the state’s Certified Community Initiative, according to a release from the New Mexico Economic Development Department. The release said Certified Community status means funding of up to $5,000 for development.
Dine for America raises millions
K-Bob’s Steakhouses joined more than 17,000 other restaurants across the nation in the Dine for America initiative to raise money for those affected by Hurricane Rita and Katrina, according to a release from the restaurant’s corporate headquarters. The overall effort brought in millions of dollars, the release said.
