The Rattler wrestling tournament went very well, according to Coach Eddie Encinias. Teams participating in the tournament were West Las Vegas, Roswell High, Goddard High, Hobbs, Dumas, Pampa, Randall and River Road.

Brian Lopez continued his undefeated winning streak. “Brian does a tremendous job as a leader and wrestler who has very high expectations of himself and it, show’s in his wrestling and Jacob Ramirez is one of our better lower weight wrestlers who also won his weight division,” said Encinias.

Placing second for the Rattlers were Tramee Skinner, Ryan Fought, Matt Garcia and Fernando Ureste. “Tramee is new to the wrestling team this year and getting better every week. Ryan seems to have a knack for what ever he does. Matt has become a wrester that looks for all the moves he’s learned and executes them well. Fernando is coming back after a year lay off, he’s going to do a great job and have a great year,” Encinias said.

Also medaling in the tournament were Cameron Manning placing third, Raymond Jimenez, Nathanial Martinez and Josh Enriquez placing fourth in their respective divisions.

Rattler wrestlers are in action again with a tournament that started Friday and runs through today at La Cueva High School in Albuquerque.
