Longtime City Commissioner Bettie Ditto will be vacating her seat and two other city positions are also up for grabs in Tucumcari’s municipal election to be held March 7.

Filing Tuesday for Ditto’s position as city commissioner for district five were James Lafferty and Norma Jean Crellin.

Mary Mayfield filed to run again to retain her position as commissioner for district four while Lewis Martinez and Keith Hayes also filed for candidacy.

The municipal judgeship is currently held by Joe Dominguez and he was the only one who filed candidacy to fill it.

All three positions run for four-year terms, with no limit on the number of terms a person can hold office.

City Clerk Jeannette Maddiford said she will be certifying all candidates today and they will return to City Hall at 5:01 p.m. on Thursday to draw for positions on the ballot.
