Rattlers varsity boys strike Bears

The Tucumcari Rattlers traveled to Estancia on Saturday afternoon and defeated the Bears, 65-44.
Estancia held a 13-12 point lead at the end of the first quarter.

At intermission, the Rattlers led 25-23.

After the break, the Rattlers picked up the tempo of the game and began to tear down the Bear defense and score easy buckets to widen their lead.

Drew White led all scorers with 18 points; Nathan McDonald, Gabriel Anaya and Aric Trujillo each added 11 points for the Rattlers.

Estancia was led by the brother combination of Daniel Ortiz with 10 points and David Ortiz with 8 points.

Junior varsity action had the Rattlers coming out slow and unable to contain the Bear attack. Estancia won, 59-37. The Rattlers were down 26-11 at intermission.

Top scorers for the Rattlers were Andrez Apodaca and Curtis Simpson with 8 points each.

R.J. Rice led the Bears with 29 points, followed by Chris Otero with 9 points.
