Rattler bite Demons

By Albert Trujillo

On Tuesday the Rattlers made the long trek to Dexter to take on the Demons. Drew White led the Rattlers with 27 points in their 67-54 win over the Demons.

Despite the long bus ride, the Rattlers jumped to 20-13 lead at the end of the first period. In the second period the Rattlers continued the attack and led 37-19 at intermission.

Dexter started the third quarter shooting the lights out, outscoring the Rattlers 23-14. The Demons were able to cut the Rattler lead to within nine points in the fourth period but the Rattlers never gave up and were able to amass a victory.

Gabriel Anaya hit for 13 points for the Rattlers while Jose Lopez and Ulisses Ortiz scored 20 and 14 points, respectfully, for the Demons.

In other varsity action the Lady Rattlers were defeated by the Lady Demons 74-47.

The first half seemed to be a game of evenly-matched teams. The intermission score was Lady Rattlers 25 to Dexter’s 26.

The second half was a different story. The Lady Demons began to full court press the Lady Rattlers, who turned the ball over numerous times and ended the game with 43 turnovers on the night and a loss.

Brandi Arenas scored 22 points and Ashley Trujillo 6 points for the Lady Rattlers.

Stephanie Silva scored 19, leading the Lady Demons, and Krystal Banda tossed in 15 points in defeating Tucumcari.
