Fire department reiterates burn ban
The Logan Fire Department is asking citizens to follow Ordinance 160, which bans open fires and fireworks due to dry conditions. Violation of the ordinance is punishable by up to 90 days in jail and a $500 fine.
Since the ordinance went into effect on Feb. 1, Logan Fire Chief Rex Stall said the department has responded to at least three fires that were intentionally started as controlled burns but got out of control.
“We’re not trying to knock anybody, we’re just trying to get the word out,” Stall said. “It is extremely dry right now.”
