Writing workshop in May
A Free River Press Writing workshop will be held at the Nara Visa School May 26-28. The times are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 26 and 27 and 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 28. Participants are asked to commit to the full three days to allow enough time to finalize their stories.
Participants will write accounts of personal experiences illustrating life in northern New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle.
The workshop is orally oriented, which means that participants tell their stories before writing them. Participants are asked to write their stories as closely as possible to the way they told them, and not to worry about spelling, punctuation, or grammar. The important thing is to write the first draft as quickly as possible. The process assumes that we share an innate wisdom of what makes for a good story.
Stories from the workshop will be considered for publication in a book to be published by Free River Press.
Space is limited to 20. To register, call Tom or Sharon Cole at 505-633-2773 or Karen Bell 505-633-2960. If there is no answer, callers are asked to leave a message.
