March 29, 2006 Tuck’s Turf

By Howie Tucker

Pointer of the week
Boost your putting confidence. Try to spend 5 to 10 minutes on the practice green getting a feel for the speed and your distance control.
Start with mid-range putts of 35 to 40 feet.
Finish with the short ones and watch them fall into the cup to boost your confidence. You should be in a good frame of mind to go to the first tee in a positive mental atitude.

Rule of the week
Rule 25-2, Embedded Ball: A ball embedded in its own pitch-mark in the ground in any closely mown area through the green may be lifted, cleaned and dropped, without penalty, as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole. “Closely mown area” means any area of the course, cut to fairway height or less.

Special note
Saturday, the Course will be closed to open play from 10:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
