Tommy Joe Bryant

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Dunn Memorial Chapel in Tucumcari.

Tommy Joe Bryant died Saturday, April 15, 2006, at her home in San Jon.

Mrs. Bryant was born March 12, 1935, in Amarillo to Earl and Rose Beggs.

Mrs. Bryant was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Bryant is survived by her husband of 51 years, Duwayne

Bryant of San Jon; two sons, Brad (wife Julie) Bryant of San Jon and Gary (Melissa) Bryant of Houston; a sister, Earlene Wooten of San Jon; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial will follow in the San Jon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.

Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari.

Ira Elam

Services: 3 p.m. Thursday at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ira A. “Buster” Elam, 92, died Sunday, April 16, 2006, in the VA Regional Medical Center in Albuquerque.

Mr. Elam was born Aug. 3, 1913, in Bond County, Ill.

He had been a long-time resident of Tucumcari. He was a retired mechanic. In his early days, he worked on the railroad. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He attended the First Christian Church.

Mr. Elam was preceded in death by his wife, Flo Elam, in 2002; two brothers and one sister.

Mr. Elam is survived by two sons C. J. “Jack” (wife Maria) Elam of Tucumcari and R.W. Hubert of Florida; two daughters, M. Jill Hopper of Albuquerque and Phyllis Elam of New Baltimore, Mich.; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Jim Witcher will officiate services.

Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari.

Roberta Waterman

Services: 9 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Tucumcari.

Roberta Waterman, 82 of Tucumcari, died on Thursday, April 13, 2006, at the Hospice of Metro Denver in Denver.

Mrs. Waterman was born Feb. 6, 1924, in Wichita, Kan., to Walter H. and Katheryn M. (Keenan) Benedix. On July 4, 1943, she married Jack Raymond Waterman in Wichita.

Mrs. Waterman enjoyed sewing, making quilts and was a member of the Does and the Red Hats. She made Tucumcari her home for 51 years.

Mrs. Waterman was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 12, 2001, and her son, Ken Waterman, on March 27, 2006.

Mrs. Waterman is survived by her son, Ray (wfe Linda) Watermanof Castle Rock, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Claudia Waterman of Grand Junction, Colo.; five grandchildren, Mike, Jim, Tyler, Kourtnie and Garan, and two great-grandchildren, Laura and Daniel.

Jim Witcher will officiate services.
