In Quay County, less than a third of the 5,938 registered voters participated in the primary. In all, 1,808 votes were cast.
Of the 3,585 registered Democrats, 40 percent or 1,406 voted.
Of the 1,804 registered Republicans, 23 percent or 402 voted.
Among Quay County’s registered voters, 500 have registered and declined to state their party affiliation and 49 are registered with minor parties such as the Greens, Reformed, Independent or others, said Ellen White, county clerk.
Of all the people who voted, 27 percent voted early or by absentee ballot, she said.
