Police set to employ saturation patrols
The Tucumcari Police Department will be conducting saturation patrols from now through Aug. 31 from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. During this time, officers will be out enforcing DWI laws.

Riddle set to compete in AQHYA championship
Vatlie Riddle is among 2,000 youths participating in the Ford American Quarter Horse Association Youth World (AQ HYA) Championship show in Fort Worth, Saturday through Aug. 12.

Riddle was the senior high point in the 4-H State Horse Show competition held in Tucumcari last weekend.
The show is billed as the showcase for top American Quarter Horse youth exhibitors, so competition is expected to be intense. Youths compete for 30 world titles and prizes.

Quay County 4-Hers ride hard at the rodeo
If you missed the Quay County 4-H Rodeo on July 28-29, you missed some outstanding efforts by our Quay County cowboys and cowgirls.

Here’s a list of Quay County contestants who placed among the top 10. Their events, place s won and names follow:
Junior Calf Touching, third place Bobby Raz Lee and sixth place Seth Barber
Junior Break-Away, tenth place Bobby Raz Lee.
Junior Ribbon Roping, seventh place, Bobby Raz Lee and eighth place Seth Barber
Junior Pole Bending, second place Bobby Raz Lee and eighth place Sami Bauler
Senior Break-Away, tenth place Roy Hampton
Senior Goat Tying, fourth place Annie Bauler, and
Senior Barrel Racing, seventh place Annie Bauler.
