The 2006 net taxable value of property in Quay County increased more than $5 million to $121,516,689 compared to 2005, said Janie Murray, Quay County tax assessor.
Increases were attributed to new construction, which excludes the construction on First Street, the Ute Lake Ranch development project, new mobile homes and other improvements in existing properties, Murray said.
Seeing the increase in taxes, Murray said, “makes me fell optimistic about Tucumcari.”
On Nov. 1, residents will begin receiving their property tax bills, Murray said.
