Denish to visit Thursday
Lt. Governor Diane Denish will be in Tucumcari on Thursday with small-business and economic development experts to highlight successful Tucumcari small businesses and help others navigate state government.
The following is the public schedule for the Denish’s visit:
11:45 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Business luncheon, Tucumcari Rotary Club, Holiday Inn, 3716 E Tucumcari Blvd.
1:15-4:30 p.m.: Guided tours of Tucumcari business attractions
1:15-2 p.m.: Sozo Inc. (Rt. 66 Ethanol Plant)
2:15-3 p.m.: Mesa Lands Community College
3:15-4 p.m.: Main street tour (numerous shops)
5-8 p.m. – Small business forum, Tucumcari Convention Center, 1500 W. Tucumcari Blvd.
Denish will also be in Tucumcari Friday morning for an 8 a.m. ribbon cutting at the Quay County Democratic Party headquarters on 106 E. Aber.
Board talks billboards
A review of upcoming outdoor billboard contracts is being conducted by members of Tucumcari Lodger’s Tax Advisory Board.
Although there was not a quorem at Tuesday’s meeting, attending members looked at one contract, which they said was not complete.
Ross Harmon said maps locating outdoor billboards and a review of existing contracts will be available for its next meeting on Nov. 14.
Jim Kinder, owner of the Blue Swallow, said he had recently driven to Alburqurque and back and said some of the outdoor billboards did not look like they had been well maintained.
Members attending the meeting were Kinder, Harmon and City Commissioner James Lafferty. Members not attending were Subash Patel, Pete Kampfer and James Robinson.
Gilbertson sworn in
The newest member of the Arch Hurley Conservancy District board, John Gilbertson, representing Precinct No. 2, was sworn in Tuesday morning.
Also, board member David Foote was selected as vice president.
