The House Cowgirls are the only volleyball team in Quay County to advance into the post season.
The Cowgirls clinched the championship match-up and a trip to the regional playoffs after Thursday’s night game against Logan. They took it in three: 25-11, 25-20 and 25-18.
Clovis Christian won the district championship Friday night.
The Cowgirls rallied to take the match to the wire, but CCS used a 7-0 run in the fifth game to nail down a 25-16, 28-26, 26-28, 18-25, 15-12 win. The Lady Eagles (16-5) will host the District 1-1A runnerup next weekend in a first-round state matchup, while House (13-5) will have to travel to that district’s champion.
Senior Sara Lee added nine kills for House, all in the final three games. Freshman Shelby McElroy had four of the team’s 10 aces.
The Cowgirls controlled the tempo on Thursday. Senior Shannan Lane had more than 10 kills in the match-up. Senior setter Sara Lee had two aces and several strong digs.
Logan Sophomore Laken Humble had a strong block against Lane and a tip over in set two and one kill in set three. Sophomore Megan Frost had back-to-back aces in set three and in three play Junior Nicole Martinez would ace.
