Construction workers were out in full-force on First Street Friday working to complete as much of they road as they could. Road contractor A.S. Horner had advertised that First Street would be open on Friday. However, the snow storm cut in the project’s schedule, said Joshua Lucero, project inspection supervisor for the New Mexico Department of Transporation. “For every snow or rain day, they loose a day or two,” he said. “And if it involves concrete, it has to cure for seven days.” Workers are expected to be on the job today, off for the Christmas holidays and to return on Wednesday, Lucero said. Meanwhile, First Street is open from Interstate 40 to Barnes Avenue; and closed from Barnes to Main Street.
