Blood bank’s reserves low, drive coming here Jan. 24
Recent storms have created a shortage in reserves at the state’s blood bank, United Blood Services reported.
“We have less than a half day’s supply,” said Lora Uebelhart, donor recruitment representative, who was in Tucumcari to promote the drive here on Jan. 24.
“We’ve had three days when we’ve not been able to collect blood,” she said.
The drive will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Room 121, Mesalands Community College.

Auxiliary check to double equipment for Trigg Hospital
Evelyn Coughenour, president of the Dan C. Trigg Hospital Auxiliary, presented a check to Matt Posinski, Hospital Administrator in the amount of $10,000, which was matched by Presbyterian Foundation. In all, the auxiliary has made it possible for the hospital to purchase $20,000 in equipment.
The equipment to be purchased is a cardiac monitor, five Mayo tables for the ER Department and for the hospital’s surgery department, 6 K-pad motors for heating pads and three sets of bumper pads for patients, when needed.
The auxiliary raised funds through its annual Season’s Greetings fund raiser.
“The auxiliary really appreciates all the community for supporting our Season’s Greetings for 2006,” said Coughenour. “This has been an annual event for over 30 years, and a lot of equipment has been purchased and donated to the hospital through the years.”
